CHICAGO — Radiologic professional associations and governmental regulatory agencies in the United States and Europe are grappling with how best to deal with nephrogenic systemic fibrosis, a severe scleroderma-like syndrome that may arise in patients with poor kidney function after receiving gadolinium-based contrast agents administered during magnetic resonance imaging.
